Tokyo Stocks Down, Dollar Up

Japanese share prices ended lower Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen. Tokyo’s Nikkei index dropped one percent to close at 8,628. In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.71 yen, up two-tenths of a yen from late Friday. Gold was selling at $1,888.07 an ounce.
