U.S. stock indexes moved sharply higher in early trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 1.3 percent, with the broader S & P 500 advancing 1.4 percent. The NASDAQ is ahead by 1.8 percent.
European stocks also advanced in afternoon trading.
London's Financial Times index is up two-tenths of one percent. The CAC 40 in Paris is up nine-tenths of a percent, and the DAX index in Frankfurt by one-half of a percent.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly one and one-quarter percent to finish at 8,733. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index soared 2 percent to finish the day's trading at 19,876.
Gold is trading down $22.28 at $1,875.18 an ounce.
The dollar is trading lower against both the yen and euro.
