Officials from East Asia's three largest economic powers — China, Japan and South Korea — will meet next week to discuss the feasibility of negotiating a free trade agreement.
South Korea's trade ministry said Wednesday that representatives from industry, government and academia will take part in the three-day meeting beginning next Wednesday in the Chinese city of Changchun.
It said the delegates will discuss a draft joint report and hold working level meetings on issues including customs procedures and technical barriers to trade.
The session will be the sixth meeting since the three countries began discussing the idea last year. Separate free trade talks between Japan and South Korea have been stalled for years over tariff differences.
