U.S. stock indexes rose in Tuesday's trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained three percent to close 11,177. The S&P 500 soared nearly 3.5 percent to finish at 1,162, while the NASDAQ closed at 2,446, a gain of more than four and one-quarter percent .
European markets ended higher from Monday's close. London's Financial Times 100 index gained nearly three-quarters of a percent to end the day's trading at 5,129. The CAC 40 in Paris earned over one percent to finish at 3,084. The DAX in Frankfurt also earned over one percent to close at 5,532.
Asian markets were also higher Tuesday, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly one and one-quarter percent to finish at 8,733. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index soared two percent to close at 19,876.
The price of gold fell below $1,830 an ounce, after rising to a record-high $1,900 an ounce earlier Tuesday.
Asian markets are lower in early trading Wednesday, and U.S. market futures are also down amid signs of a faltering U.S. recovery.
