Japanese share prices ended higher Friday, while the dollar slipped against the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei index gained three-tenths of a percent , to close at 8,798.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 77.16 yen, down three-tenths of a yen from late Thursday.

The Taipei market gained one-half of a percent , to close at 7,445.
