Aviation officials in southern India say seven passengers were injured after a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain skidded off a Kochi International Airport runway before dawn Monday.
Airport officials say the passengers were injured when they jumped out of the plane's emergency exit before a ladder was brought to the aircraft. An airport official is quoted as saying the nose of the Airbus 320 was damaged, preventing the inflatable emergency ladder from unfolding.
Authorities say only one of the injured passengers remains in the hospital.
Officials say the flight was carrying six crew members and 137 passengers.
Aviation officials say heavy rains could have contributed to the accident. Gulf Air said it is working with authorities to determine the cause of the accident, which caused the runway to be closed for several hours.
