Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar rose against the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei index rose six-tenths of a percent to close at 8,851.

In currency trading, the dollar was selling at 76.73 yen, up a tenth of a yen from late Friday.

The Taipei market climbed one and eight-tenths percent to close at 7,578.
