Japanese share prices ended higher Monday, while the dollar was unchanged against the yen.

Tokyo's Nikkei index rose six-tenths of a percent to close at 8,851.

The dollar was selling at 76.59 yen in currency trading, down slightly from late Friday.

Gold was trading at $1,819.38 an ounce.
