A volcano south of Mexico City spewed ash more than one kilometer into the air four times Tuesday.

The Mexican national disaster prevention agency says the ash from the Popocatepetl volcano could fall over Mexico City early Wednesday.

The disaster agency is encouraging residents to stay a minimum of 12 kilometers from the crater.

There are no reported travel advisories related to the volcanic activity. Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport is reporting all inbound and outbound flights are operating on-time.
