Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has pledged his country's fullest cooperation in helping China fight against terrorism, nearly a month after Beijing blamed an attack on militants allegedly trained in Pakistan.

Mr. Zardari made his comments to political leaders in China's western Xinjiang region after he arrived Tuesday ahead of a China-Eurasia Expo.

He also stressed the need of increasing trade and enhancing transportation between Xinjiang and northern Pakistan.

Last month, violence in Xinjiang's city of Kashgar killed at least 19 people. Chinese authorities said one of the attacks was carried out by militants trained from a Pakistan-based camp of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement.

Islamabad has repeatedly denied any Pakistani involvement in the attack.

The ETIM is made up of ethnic Uighurs, a Chinese minority group that wants an independent homeland for the Xinjiang's Uighurs.
