Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominque Strauss-Khan is expected to return home to France on Sunday after his attempted rape case was dismissed in the U.S.
French media and sources close to Strauss-Khan say he has already purchased an airline ticket for a flight to France.
A judge cleared Strauss-Khan to leave the United States after prosecutors dropped sex abuse charges against him last week.
Prosecutors said they could not determine if a crime was committed during Strauss-Khan’s sexual encounter with a maid in his New York hotel suite in May.
Strauss-Khann resigned his post shortly after he was formally charged.
Strauss-Khan was once considered a possible presidential candidate of the Socialist Party in France’s 2012 election.
