Authorities in Chile say a Chilean air force plane with 21 people on board, including a popular TV host, is presumed to have crashed near a remote Chilean Island.
Media sources says debris from the plane was found Friday near the Juan Fernandez islands, where the plane was heading when it disappeared.
The Associated Press says the plane went down after two landing attempts in strong winds and it disappeared from sight.
Rescuers are searching the Pacific Ocean for possible survivors.
TV host Felipe Camiroaga and a camera crew were heading to the island for a program on reconstruction on the island following last year's earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
The Juan Fernandez islands are 670 kilometers off Chile's coast.
