Rescuers have found seven of 10 oil workers missing for three days in the Gulf of Mexico alive.

The state-run Mexican oil company, Pemex, says the men were found off the coast of the state of Campeche. It says two of the workers are dead and the 10th still missing.

The 10 evacuated their oil platform Thursday to escape Tropical Storm Nate. They became lost when they abandoned their disabled lifeboat for a raft.

Earlier Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center downgraded Nate to a tropical depression as it made landfall in Mexico.

Officials report no serious damage or injures after Nate swept ashore in Veracruz, along the southern Mexican gulf coast.

Forecasters cancelled tropical storm warnings and watches. They expect the storm to break up Monday.

Meanwhile, forecasters are urging parts of the Caribbean, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, to keep an eye on Tropical Storm Maria.

Officials expect the storm to pass north of Puerto Rico Sunday night before turning north towards the Bahamas. There are currently no watches or warnings posted.
