At least five people have been killed in an explosion at an Italian fireworks factory.

The blast occurred Monday at the factory in Arpino, about 115 kilometers southeast of Rome.

The owners of the factory were among those killed. Rescue workers were still searching the wreckage for a sixth person.

It is unclear what caused the explosion.
