In New York, the S&P futures contract is down less than one point, indicating a lower opening.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly one percent to finish at 8,617.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was closed Monday.
Gold is trading at $1,809.31 an ounce.
The dollar is trading lower against other major currencies.
