The biannual Frankfurt Motor Show highlights the latest in small cars when it is unveiled to the media Tuesday – two days before German Chancellor Angela Merkel opens the auto show to the public.

Automakers are unveiling their latest offerings amid the uncertainty of the economic climate of the eurozone and the United States.

Fuel efficiency and style are just two of the features the latest small cars will offer. New models include BMW's Mini, the Fiat Panda, a plug-in lithium battery-powered Toyota Prius and the VW Up.

The 64th Frankfurt Motor Show continues through September 25.
