U.S. stock indexes are mixed in midday trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is off one-tenth of a percent, while the S&P 500 is up three-tenths of one percent. The NASDAQ is ahead seven-tenths of a percent.
European stocks closed higher.
London's Financial Times index finished ahead nine-tenths of one percent to end at 5,174 . The CAC-40 in Paris ended up 1.4 percent to close at 2,895, while the DAX index in Frankfurt advanced 1.9 percent to finish the day's trading at 5,166.
Earlier, Tokyo's Nikkei index gained nearly one percent to finish at 8,617.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was closed Tuesday.
Gold is trading up $13.28 at $1,828.52 an ounce.
The dollar is trading down against both the euro and the yen.
