Two people were killed and at least nine others were injured after a fire broke out in the engine room of the Norwegian fjord cruise ship MS Nordlys on Thursday.
The ship was at sea near the port of Aalesund in western Norway when the fire started. Some of the more than 200 passengers aboard the ship were evacuated to lifeboats, while the rest left the MS Nordlys when it docked at Aalesund.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is being investigated. Witnesses reported clouds of dark smoke billowing from the rear of the ship, which was listing to one side after taking on water.
The incident occurred while the MS Nordlys was sailing on a popular tourist route from Bergen to the northern regions above the Arctic circle.
