U.S. stock market indexes made gains in Friday's early trading. The Dow and the S&P 500 advanced six-tenths of a percent, while the NASDAQ rose half a percent.
European stock prices rose in Friday's afternoon trading. London's Financial Times index rose one percent. The CAC-40 in Paris gained eight-tenths of a percent, and the DAX index in Frankfurt jumped 2.1 percent.
Earlier in Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 2.3 percent to finish at 8,864. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index soared 1.4 percent to finish the day's trading at 19,455.
The price of gold rose less than $1 to trade at $1,789.07 an ounce.
The dollar is higher against the yen and the euro.
