China says 10 people are dead and more than 20 others missing in a landslide that buried two mountainside factories in the country’s northwest.
The official Xinhua news agency said the factories in Shaanxi province were engulfed Saturday in about 100,000 cubic meters of rock and mud unleashed by days of torrential rains in the provincial capital, Xi’An.
More than 700 rescuers, including police, firefighters and local citizens, combed the area for survivors Sunday.
Xinhua said rescue efforts were hampered by two additional landslides, as heavy rains continue in the region.
