The Central American nation of Guatemala has been struck by an earthquake with a 5.8 magnitude.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was registered at a depth of 39 kilometers and was centered some 50 kilometers south of the capital, Guatemala City.
Early reports say the quake, which struck at mid-day local time , caused buildings in the densely populated city to shake.
So far, there are no reports of injuries or serious damage.
