European stock prices are higher in midday trading Tuesday.
London's Financial Times index is up well over one and one-quarter percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is just over one and one-quarter percent higher, and trading on the DAX index in Frankfurt is up more than two percent.
In New York, the S&P futures contract is up eight points, indicating a higher opening.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost well over one and one-half percent to finish at 8,721.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained just over one-half of one percent to finish the day's trading at 19,015.
Gold is trading at $1,789.40 an ounce.
The dollar is trading lower against other major currencies.
