Afghan government officials say a large explosion has killed the country’s former president, Burhanuddin Rabbani, in Kabul. Witnesses say the blast occurred outside Mr. Rabbani’s home in the Afghan capital late Tuesday. The ex-president had been leading the government’s peace efforts with Taliban insurgents.
