Mexican authorities announced Tuesday the arrest of accused drug gang leader, Saul Solis Solis.
The Mexican army and federal authorities say the arrest was made Monday in the western state of Michoacan.
Saul Solis Solis, of the Knights Templar drug cartel, has been accused of orchestrating violence across Mexico's western region including murder, kidnappings and extortion.
A $1.1-million dollar reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of Solis.
The Knights Templar was once part of the notorious la Familia drug gang known for their distribution of methamphetamines and its use of extreme violence. Solis is a suspect in 2007 attacks on army personnel.
