U.S. stock indexes dropped slightly in early trading Friday, a day after markets plunged.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is off three-tenths of one percent, while both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ are down one-tenth of a percent.
European stock markets are lower in afternoon trading.
London's Financial Times 100 index is off four-tenths of a percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is down one percent, while the DAX in Frankfurt is off 1.3 percent.
In Asia, Japanese markets were closed Friday for a national holiday .
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index dropped 1.4 percent , to end at 17,669.
Gold was trading down $47.09 at $1,693.30 an ounce.
The U.S. dollar fell against both the yen and euro.
