A Kenyan runner has set a new world marathon record.
Patrick Makau won the Berlin Marathon Sunday, running the 42.2 kilometers in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 38 seconds.
Makau's time is 21 seconds better than the previous record, held by Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie, who set that record in Berlin three years ago.
Kenyans took the top three positions in Sunday's race, run in sunny, mild conditions.
