Aviation officials in Nepal say a plane carrying tourists to view Mount Everest has crashed, killing all 19 people onboard.

Authorities say one passenger initially survived the crash Sunday, but died later in a hospital.

Tourism officials say the Buddha Air Beechcraft was carrying 10 Indians, 2 Americans, 1 Japanese and 3 Nepali passengers. The three crew members were also from Nepal.

Officials say the plane crashed in heavy fog, several kilometers south of Katmandu.

Aviation authorities say the aircraft had taken the tourists to view Mount Everest and other high peaks and was returning to Katmandu when it crashed.

The popular “mountain flights” take tourists over the Everest region where passengers can view some of the world's highest peaks from the airplane windows.
