U.S. stock indexes opened mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up eight-tenths of a percent, while the S&P 500 is ahead four-tenths of one percent. The NASDAQ is off three-tenths of a percent.
European stock markets are higher in afternoon trading.
London's Financial Times 100 index is up four-tenths of a percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is ahead 1.3 percent, while the DAX in Frankfurt is up 2.1 percent.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index dropped 2.2 percent , to close at 8,374.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 1.5 percent , to end at 17,408.
Gold is trading down $38.74 at $1,618 an ounce.
The U.S. dollar was lower against the yen, but up against the euro.
