Chinese state media say a fruit vendor has been arrested for killing his wife and eight other people in a fit of jealous rage.

The rampage occurred in the northern city of Baotou, when 32-year-old Qin Changcheng killed his wife after accusing her of having a love affair with another man.

Police say Qin went on to kill his wife's employer, his own aunt and uncle, and five other people. Qin was later arrested in the nearby province of Hebei.

The killings took place Monday but were reported only Wednesday.
