U.S. stock indexes are mixed in midday trading Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up three-tenths of one percent, while the broader S&P 500 is virtually unchanged from Tuesday's close. The NASDAQ is down one-tenth of a percent.
European stock prices fell.
London's Financial Times index dropped 1.4 percent to end at 5,218. The CAC-40 in Paris fell nine-tenths of one percent to close at 2,996. The DAX index in Frankfurt also slid nine-tenths of a percent to close at 5,578.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index ended up slightly to finish at 8,616.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost seven-tenths of a percent to finish the day's trading at 18,011.
Gold is trading down $16.43 at $1,634.30 an ounce.
The dollar is trading lower against both the yen and euro.
