European stock prices are lower in midday trading Thursday.
London’s Financial Times index is down nearly three-quarters of one percent. The CAC-40 in Paris is a lower by a fraction of a percent, and trading on the DAX index in Frankfurt is down just over one-quarter of one percent.
In New York, the S&P futures contract is up five points, indicating a higher opening.
Tokyo’s Nikkei index rose one percent to finish at 8,701.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was closed due to the threat posed by Typhoon Nesat.
Gold is trading at $1,607.24 an ounce.
The dollar is trading lower against other major currencies.
