The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Ophelia is gaining strength and is expected to pass east of Bermuda Saturday.

The NHC says Ophelia is a category three storm, packing winds nearing 200 kilometers per hour.

Bermuda remains under a tropical storm watch.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Philippe continues to churn in the open Atlantic away from land.
