Denmark's first female prime minister has presented her new cabinet ministers to Queen Margrethe at a ceremony at the queen's official residence, Amalienborg Castle in Copenhagen.
Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who leads Social Democratic Party , presented the 14 men and nine women on Monday. There are 11 ministers from her party as well as six each from her minority coalition partners, the Social Liberal Party and Socialist People's Party .
The coalition won the September 15 election and claimed a majority with 92 of the 179 parliament seats, ending the decade-long government by center-right parties led by Lars Lokke Rasmussen. It is the first time Denmark has a coalition government of the SDP, the SLP and the SPP, with the SPP being in government for the first time.
Ms. Thorning-Schmidt and her coalition have agreed on a plan to boost Denmark's economic growth with a $1.8 billion stimulus package in public investments. The new prime minister says the government program will lead the country out of its current economic crisis.
