Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is expected to visit Burma Wednesday at the invitation of Burma's President U Thein Sein.
News reports from the region say the two sides will have discussions on enhancing relations and economic cooperation during the one-day visit.
The Thai English-language newspaper The Nation says the Thai prime minister will meet with Burm'a top leaders in the administrative capital, Naypyitaw. It says the Burmese president will host a dinner for the Thai leader before she heads back to Bangkok.
It will be the Thai prime minister's first official visit to Burma since taking office.
Paul Chambers, who is director of research at Thailand's University, told Radio Australia that he sees the trip as the beginning of a renewal of the relationship started by Ms. Yingluck's brother, the former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra.
