Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is in Burma for a one-day visit aimed at enhancing diplomatic ties and economic cooperation.
Ms. Yingluck arrived Wednesday in the Burmese administrative capital, Naypyitaw, for talks with Burma’s top leaders. The Thai English-language newspaper The Nation said Burmese President Thein Sein was hosting a dinner for the Thai leader before her return to Bangkok.
The visit is Ms. Yingluck’s first official visit to Burma since taking office earlier this year.
Last month, the Thai leader paid a similar one-day visit to Cambodia, where she began a process of improving bilateral ties frayed by a series of border skirmishes between troops from both nations that occurred ahead of her taking office in August.
