Chinese investigators say human error caused a subway train crash last month in Shanghai and 12 people have been punished in connection with the wreck.
News reports from China say the government dismissed the chief dispatcher at the Shanghai Metro Line 10, on which the accident occurred. Eleven other managers and workers of the operation control and power supply sections received penalties ranging from being fired to demotions.
The September 27 crash injured more than 290 passengers. The investigators' report says a signal system failed to operate because of power failure, and the dispatchers issued a number of erroneous orders that finally led to the crash.
The report says 70 people remain hospitalized as a result of the accident.
