Asian stock markets closed higher Friday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained one percent , to close at 8,605.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index climbed 3.11 percent , to end at 17,707.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Sydney, Mumbai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Wellington, Manila, Taipei and Seoul. Stocks slipped in Jakarta and Bangkok, while markets were closed in Shanghai for a holiday .
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 76.69 yen, up slightly from late Thursday.
Gold was trading at $1,654.33 an ounce.
