Former Beatle Paul McCartney married for the third time Sunday, tying the knot with American heiress Nancy Shevell at the same London register office where he married his first wife, Linda, 42 years ago.
The happy couple emerged from a 45-minute civil ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall attended by close family and friends, including drummer Ringo Starr and TV journalist Barbara Walters, a second cousin of the bride.
Fifty-one-year-old Shevell wore an elegant long-sleeved, knee-length white dress designed by McCartney's daughter, Stella, and a white flower in her long dark hair, while the 69-year-old McCartney looked youthful in a dark blue suit and pale blue tie.
When asked how he felt after marrying again, the world-famous singer-songwriter told reporters, “Terrific. I feel married. I feel absolutely marvelous.”
The former Beatle was married for 29 years to American photographer Linda Eastman until her death in 1998 from breast cancer.
His second marriage to former model and charity campaigner Heather Mills was less happy. The couple wed in 2002 in a lavish ceremony at Leslie Castle in Ireland and divorced six years later in 2008.
McCartney has a son, two daughters and a stepdaughter from his first marriage to Eastman, and another daughter from his marriage to Mills. Shevell has a son from a previous marriage to attorney Bruce Blakeman.
