Pakistani authorities say militants have fired at least three rockets at the residence of a police official in northwestern Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, killing one officer.

Officials say one rocket struck the compound in Bannu district early Sunday, while two others missed the target and caused no damage. Bannu borders Pakistan's North and South Waziristan tribal regions, home to Islamist militants who frequently attack Pakistani security forces.
