Officials in the Philippines say at least 101 people were killed by two typhoons that hit the main island two weeks ago, with tens of thousands of people still displaced by widespread flooding.

The Office of Civil Defense said Sunday that 27 people are missing, raising fears that the death toll could rise.

Typhoon Nesat roared across the island of Luzon on September 27 and was followed on October 1 by Typhoon Nalgae. Both storms ravaged agricultural provinces north of the capital, Manila.
