German authorities say they thwarted a suspected arson attack near Berlin's main rail station for the second time in two days.
Police say they found at least two suspicious devices along Berlin's railroad tracks on Tuesday — one day after an arson attack was thwarted near the capital's central station. The devices did not explode and were defused by experts.
They were similar to those used in an arson attack west of Berlin early Monday, along a high-speed link to the northern city of Hamburg. That attack caused enough damage to temporarily stop train service, leading to major travel delays.
A leftist group claimed responsibility for the early Monday attack to protest Germany's military deployment in Afghanistan.
A police spokesman says it is not clear if the attacks are related.
