A court in Australia has temporarily banned sales of Samsung’s latest tablet computer as part of a global legal battle with Apple over patents used in smartphones and other mobile computer equipment.
The court ruled Thursday that Samsung cannot sell the latest version of its Galaxy tablet until a final resolution of the legal dispute over touch-screen technology used in the computers and smartphones.
Apple has charged that Samsung copied technology used in its iPads and iPhones, while Samsung says Apple infringed on its patents in a complex legal battle taking place in at least nine countries around the world.
Samsung said it would appeal the Australian court injunction.
