Italian police carried out raids Monday to arrest suspected rioters from violent weekend protests.

Security officials said the riots were some of the worst street violence Rome has seen in years. Officials said scores of people were injured and property was damaged. There were no reported fatalities in Saturday's unrest.

The protests began as peaceful demonstrations against Wall Street greed before turning violent as the unruly rioters used the protest as an excuse to cause trouble.

Security officials say the crackdown is targeting suspects from the far-left.
