A small tourist plane has crashed in Botswana, killing the pilot and seven passengers.
A Botswana aviation official said Monday the dead were from Britain, France and Sweden. Four passengers survived the crash — two tourists from France and two Botswana nationals.
The spokesman said the plane, a Cessna 208, crashed and burst into flames shortly after take-off from an airstrip in north Botswana's Okavanga Delta. The flight was headed for a high-end safari camp on Pom-Pom island.
He said the crash is under investigation.
The airline that operated the flight, Moremi Air, said it has grounded its entire fleet during the investigation. Moremi Air CEO Sue Smart said the pilot was the company's general manager and its most seasoned pilot.
