Chinese Vice Premier Li Kequiang arrived in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang Sunday on an official goodwill visit.
The visit by the man who is most likely to succeed Wen Jiabao as premier, comes the day before the U.S. and North Korea are scheduled to meet in Geneva for a second round of direct discussions aimed at reviving long-stalled nuclear disarmament negotiations.
China's Foreign Ministry said the visit is scheduled to last until Tuesday.
There have been no details on what the two allies and trading partners will discuss.
