U.S. stocks advanced in Monday's midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up eight-tenths of one percent. The S&P 500 is ahead 1.1 percent while the NASDAQ is up 2.1 percent.
European stocks closed higher.
London's Financial Times 100 index advanced 1.1 percent to close at 5,548. The CAC-40 in Paris gained 1.6 percent to end at 3,220. The DAX in Frankfurt rose 1.4 percent to finish at 6,055.
Earlier in Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 1.9 percent to close at 8,844. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index jumped 4.1 percent to end at 18,772.
The price of gold rose more than $7 to trade at $1,649.20 an ounce.
The U.S. dollar is down against both the yen and euro.
