A gunman with an automatic rifle opened fire in front of the US Embassy in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo.

Police on Friday shot and arrested the man after a short stand-off.

At least one security officer was injured in the attack.

The embassy was shut down during the incident.

The reasons for the shooting were not immediately clear.
