U.S. stocks were mixed at closing Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose two tenths of a percent to close at 12,231. The S&P 500 was up a fraction of a percent at 1,285, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell by a fraction of a percent to 2,737.
European stock indexes closed mixed.
London's Financial Times index ended down two-tenths of one percent to finish at 5,702. The CAC-40 in Paris slid six-tenths of one percent to close at 3,349. The DAX index in Frankfurt rose one-tenth of 1 percent to end at 6,346.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei index index gained 1.4 percent to finish at 9,050, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 1.7 percent to end the day's trading at 20,019.
Gold closed at $1,746.20 per ounce, down from $1,746.70 on Thursday.
The dollar was higher against the euro, but lower against the yen.
