A Bosnian court has ordered a gunman who fired at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo to be held for 30 days while the incident is investigated as a terrorist act.
Mevlid Jasarevic fired his assault rifle at the Embassy Friday, wounding a security officer, before he was shot in the leg by a police sniper and arrested.
On Monday, the judge agreed with the prosecutor that the 23-year-old Jasarevic should be held for 30 days to keep him from fleeing the country and to prevent him from interfering with the investigation.
Jasarevic is a member of the Muslim Wahhabi sect.
Jasarevic's lawyer says his client should have a medical evaluation and is in need of psychiatric help.
