A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has indicted two police officers and five alleged militants for the 2007 assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
Officials say the two police officers — the former Rawalpindi police chief and another senior officer — were indicted for failing to provide adequate security to former Prime Minister Bhutto in the city.
The French news agency says the five militants were charged with “criminal conspiracy” for bringing a suicide bomber from the tribal belt in the northwest and keeping him in a home in Rawalpindi.
Benazir Bhutto was killed December 27, 2007 by a suicide bomber after her election rally in the city.
All the accused have denied the charges.
